![]() Aims of Operation Nightingale Project:
How to get involved
Operation Nightingale (O.N.), a medical clinic prototype for rural regions, opened its doors in May 2006. As the Public Health Department of Kompong Speu at that time employed only 3 Khmer trained doctors to service its 22 health centres, O.N. works alongside the department and focuses on providing free-low cost clinics into the surrounding 6 villages of Kompong Speu Province. O.N. has expanded from 1 clinic into 4 clinics just recently with plans to expand. Our clinics are staffed by employing experienced Khmer doctors from Phnom Penh and local Khmer medicos. We engage volunteer overseas medical teams twice yearly as well as volunteer overseas doctors doing long term volunteer placements. A typical day starts with patient education on common illnesses like scabies, diarrhoea, dengue fever, MHC (Malnutrition and health care), HIV, personal hygiene, and hypertension followed by a general practice clinic. |
