Sopheak's Story Little Sopheak was born Sunday
9th June, 2002 and was placed in the care of staff at Sunshine
House the next day. Sopheak is our youngest child, full
of energy, with a happy disposition.
Like all our children, he comes from a devastated background,
loosing both his parents to AIDS within months of each other
in 2002.
When Sopheak was born, his mother was suffering from severe
bouts of depression which caused her to attempt suicide.
Caring for a little 18 month old daughter at the time she
found she was unable to cope.
At the same time Sopheak’s father was very ill,
so it is uncertain as to whether he ever held his son. It
was his grandmother who tended him.
Sopheak together with his older sister Sophoan now live
under the care and protection of Sunshine House.
